This notice explains how Maria (“we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal data when you book a table, contact us, or use this website. We are the data controller for the information described here. The information we collect
When you make a reservation, we collect your name, email address, phone number, party size, the date and time of your booking, and any notes you choose to add. When you send an enquiry through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and your message. Members of staff who use our admin system have an account holding their name and email. Our hosting providers also keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) to operate and secure the site.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your reservation details to manage and confirm your booking and to send you confirmation and reminder emails — this is necessary to provide the service you have asked for (performance of a contract, and steps taken at your request before it). We use enquiry details to reply to you, and we run and protect the website, on the basis of our legitimate interests. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run the restaurant, who process it on our behalf under contract: our hosting and database provider (Supabase and Vercel), our email-delivery provider (Resend), our reservation provider (SevenRooms, which processes the details you enter when booking a table), and Google Maps, which displays the map on our contact page. We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
We keep reservation records for up to 24 months so we can manage repeat visits and our own accounts, and enquiry messages for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted. We may keep information longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@mariarestaurant.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our public website sets only the essential cookies needed to work; we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. When staff sign in to the admin area, a secure session cookie keeps them logged in. The map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when it loads — you can read Google’s policy on their website. To understand how our site is used, we rely on a privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics service that does not use cookies and does not track or identify individual visitors.

We may update this notice from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date.
